Tour Overview

This is a full day of touring and Nature Romp Safaris will pick you up early – 6:30 am to begin the adventure. The first stop – perhaps the most unique national park in the world. Within minutes of your hotel and the city of Nairobi, you’ll be quickly transported to a scene of animals roaming in the wild – Nairobi National Park. This is just the first stop in a day filled with unexpected wonders.

Nairobi National Park

So close to the city its skyscrapers fill the horizon, you’ll find yourself on a broad savannah, home to lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, giraffe and many more. These are the wildlands of Nairobi National Park, Kenya’s very first reserve. On your game drives here, just 10km (6mi) south of the city, you’ll be on the watch for hyena, impala, ostrich and over 400 species of birds. Most incredible of all, the park hosts zebra and wildebeest moving through this wild space in an epic great migration.

Within the borders of the park lies perhaps the most special animal sanctuary in the world. We’ll visit this unique reserve where rescued baby elephants are saved and nursed back to health. Feeding time is at 11:00 am and we’ll be there to enjoy the sight of dozens of these babies feeding from enormous milk bottles. Feeding is followed by bath time as the tiny elephants roll about and cavort in giant mud baths. And all of this… just a few short feet from you.

Now it’s your lunchtime, so take your choice of dining at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden or the world-famous Carnivore restaurant.

Karen Blixen Museum

If you’ve read the book or seen the movie, “Out of Africa”, you are already familiar with the life of writer, planter and legend Karen Blixen. If not, you’ll learn all about Blixen in her home on this beautiful homestead at the foot of the Ngong Hills. Here Blixen established a coffee plantation in colonial Africa. The museum features artifacts from her life as well as props from the classic movie which was shot close by.

Giraffe Centre

Our tour continues to thrill at this refuge for the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe where you can climb the high platform and try your hand at feeding one of the towering creatures. Some lucky visitors here have even gotten a giraffe kiss! The grounds include an Information Centre and Nature Trail where you can see warthogs, birds and more. The Centre is also a favorite of Kenya’s schoolchildren, and you’re sure to spot plenty of them as well.

Day By Day Itinerary

  • Day 1

Pick up from your Nairobi hotel. Start the day tour by visiting the most accessible and yet wild and  natural, Nairobi national park  just a breath and sight away from the bustling Kenya capital – Nairobi city

Established in 1946 and Kenya’s first the Nairobi National park is made up of  wide open grass savannah plains. Its scattered acacia bush is host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes, bushbuck, hippopotamus and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded.

Lunch at the Karen Blixen coffee garden (Tamambo restaurant)

Afternoon tour of the Karen Blixen Museum. Its history dates back to 1914, during the First World War, with the arrival of Karen Blixen from Denmark. At the foot of Ngong Hills, Karen Blixen established herself as a farmer. After her departure in 1931, the suburbs retained the commemorative home of Karen. This is the beautiful farmhouse where Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa, lived between 1914 and 1931, until she left Kenya after a series of personal tragedies

Tour progresses to the Giraffe centre. The Giraffe centre is an opportunity to get  up close  to view giraffes as well as feed and touch them. It  is a wonderful and refreshing experience

Later visit the  Kazuri beads centre/Maasai market. This is home to handmade ceramic jewelry …

The beads and Pottery Centre provides an opportunity for shopping of  original souvenir. The cottage industry literally supports  hundreds of disadvantaged Kenyan women, by providing employment and healthcare services for them and their families. Tour finishes at 1830hrs when we drop you off at your Nairobi  hotel
