Tour Overview

Embark on a thrilling 4-day safari exploring two of Tanzania’s most iconic destinations: the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park. Begin your journey in Arusha and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder teeming with wildlife, including the rare black rhino and all of the Big 5. Then, travel to the Serengeti, home to millions of animals and one of the world’s greatest wildlife migrations. With abundant game drives, stunning landscapes, and fascinating archaeological sites like Olduvai Gorge, this safari promises an unforgettable African adventure.

Day By Day Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arusha – Ngorongoro Conservation Area (191 km, 3 to 4 hours)

After breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey takes approximately 5 hours, offering picturesque views of the Tanzanian countryside. Upon arrival, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. The crater, a vast volcanic caldera, is home to an incredible concentration of wildlife.

Here, you’ll embark on an exhilarating game drive, with a picnic lunch amidst the stunning landscape. The Ngorongoro Crater is a sanctuary for numerous species, including the rare black rhino, and it’s one of the few places where these majestic creatures can be spotted in their natural habitat. Expect to see a variety of animals, including lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, and jackals. The diversity of wildlife is remarkable, with all of the Big Five present. After a day of thrilling wildlife encounters, return to your lodge or camp for a delicious dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 2: Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Serengeti National Park (160 km, 3 to 4 hours)

After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park, en route to which you’ll stop by the historical Olduvai Gorge. Known as the “Cradle of Mankind,” this UNESCO World Heritage Site is an archaeological treasure, where some of the earliest human fossils were discovered.

Continue your journey to Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous and biodiverse wildlife reserves in the world. This vast park, covering 14,763 square kilometers, is renowned for its seasonal migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles—a true spectacle of nature. The name Serengeti comes from the Maasai word “siringet,” meaning endless plains, which perfectly captures the park’s expansive landscape. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive, where you’ll encounter a variety of wildlife in one of Africa’s most iconic locations.

  • Day 3: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Today, spend a full day exploring the Serengeti, with game viewing opportunities available year-round. The Seronera River Valley, located in the heart of the Central Serengeti, is a must-see area due to its abundant wildlife, especially during the dry season (June – November) when animals are drawn to the remaining water sources.

During your game drive, keep an eye out for resident herbivores such as impalas, buffaloes, warthogs, and giraffes, as well as predators like lions and leopards. The Seronera Valley offers excellent opportunities to see big cats, including lions and leopards, in action. After an exciting day of wildlife sightings, return to your camp or lodge for dinner and relaxation.

  • Day 4: Serengeti National Park – Arusha (335 km, 6 to 7 hours)

Your final day begins with an early-morning game drive as the sun rises over the Serengeti plains, offering a magical safari experience. Afterward, enjoy a hearty breakfast before beginning your journey back to Arusha.

For those who prefer a faster option, flights are available from Seronera Airstrip to Arusha at 11:05 AM, providing a scenic aerial view of the park’s vast landscape. If you’re continuing your journey to Zanzibar for a beach vacation, flights from Serengeti to Arusha can also be arranged. Otherwise, you’ll embark on the scenic drive back to Arusha to conclude your safari adventure.
